god, corruption, or enemy force
Noxia
Summary
Noxia is a destructive divine or corrupting force tied to scorpion symbolism, barrier bargain terms, corrupted earth, a Noxia chamber in Ashkelon, a bottle of Noxia blood acquired by Morgana at Riversmeet’s old mage school, and Noxia-aligned hive creatures at Lostvein.
Known Details
- Earlier auction and bargain clues connected Noxia to a holy symbol, bargain trinkets, and barrier sickness.
- On
day-42, the party found a Noxia chamber with purple crackling energy, a green dripping blob, a medusa, a statue figure, a child of the Mother with a worm, an eyeless dog, bronze, and a telescope like Ennui’s. - The party killed the Noxia Beast avatar, while a later observatory book said Noxia wanted to walk on the earth and that Noxia’s blood corrupted land after a fight with Sierra, Goddess of the Hunt.
- On
day-44, at Riversmeet’s old mage school, Morgana bought a bottle of green liquid from a very dark-skinned elf who did not know what it was. The liquid moved up the side of the bottle when touched. It reached toward Morgana, said it came from the desert, and wanted to return to the rest of itself there. The party identified or strongly concluded that this slime was Noxia’s blood. - After the mage-school time-door events, some of the green liquid appeared to have returned to the rest of itself in the desert. The exact amount and current state are unknown.
- On
day-53, Peridita claimed the goliaths’ suffering was tribute to Noxia. - On
day-55, killing Peridita released Noxia essence. Most things healed it, but the party killed the essence and moved the remaining Noxia ooze into a barrel. - User clarification identifies Peridita as the cause of the Azureside poisoned land and the sickly Goliaths; Noxia may have been involved, but that part remains unconfirmed.
- On
day-60, Lostvein contained Noxia-aligned wasp, scorpion, snake, and jellyfish-associated creatures working adjacent to Envy. A kobold who found Noxia blood began transforming into a wasp creature. - The Countess/Countessor Noxia wanted blood for “my royal jelly,” said another count was also trying to claim the newly found blood, and explained that Noxia’s servants each provide or work their own power.
- The Countess said Peridita was “brimming with the essence of Noxia” and had foolishly tried to imbue herself because “No one could contain the blood of a god.”
- In
Lostvein, the Countess confirmed the identification: she sensed that the party had Noxia’s blood hidden magically somewhere far away and wanted it for her royal jelly. This confirms that the bottle Morgana acquired at the mage school was Noxia blood, even though the exact nature of the substance was initially uncertain. - When the Countess died, black Noxia-like goo poured out. Invar’s Mass Cure Wounds caused it to bubble, solidify into tar-like material, and stop moving, suggesting healing or radiant magic interacts unusually with Noxia ooze.
- On
day-62, Colonel Bilgewater Windle reported that an Old Queen shipped away a New Queen because she felt threatened. The current review identifies the Old Queen / Countess as dead and the New Queen as on route, leaving active wasp-queen politics beyond Lostvein.
