person or imprisoned being
Garadule
Summary
Garadule, known as the Terror of the Sands, is one of Attabre’s sphinx children and Bynx’s brother. He was once a protector of the Dunnen People and their home at Newdunen, but was corrupted after consuming a void elemental and destroyed the people he had guarded. He became one of the eight beings imprisoned to power the Barrier, escaped or influenced events from the Desert Prison, and later returned through a troubled reincarnation. Garadule now claims to remember his past and has offered to repay his misdeeds by helping bring down the Barrier, though his motives and the extent of his redemption remain unresolved.
Known Details
- Tales describe him as the Terror of the Sands, nightmare of the darkness, and a being that would consume souls.
- Garadule was a Sphinx protector of the Dunnen People before his corruption.
- He was corrupted when he consumed a void elemental.
- He was imprisoned in the Desert Prison, one of the eight dome prisons.
- Early Everchard horror connected him to a sphinx that learned dark magic and experimented on itself.
- Later Everchard context establishes that the Twins behind the Everchard memory tampering were The Mother, Betrayer’s children and were working with Garadule.
- Brutor Ruby Eye called him the only void they could find, one of eight whose escape would weaken the Barrier, and someone the wizards agreed needed containment.
- Elementals later described Garadule as their master and said he was associated with sand, earth, and fire.
- He was said to have been buried north of Aegis-on-Sands and imprisoned in the Prison of the Sands.
- Wrath/Kolin was asked to search through Black Scales contacts for Garadule’s location, possibly via Blackhold.
- Cardonal’s laboratory lore says Garadule was leader or protector of the Dunnen people, consumed a void lieutenant or void elemental, slaughtered the rest of the Dunnen people after his corruption, and was locked up after the event.
- Browning’s pre-Dome map labels Newdunen as ruins; user clarification identifies Newdunen as the old home of the Dunnen People, destroyed by Garadule.
- The dragon crash into Grand Towers was said to have weakened the prisons enough for Garadule to escape.
- Infestus appeared in a dream sending Garadule through a portal with a coin; another dream showed abnormal dragons near Garadule’s prison and a void voice asking
where is he I know you know. - Garadule moved through Blackhold, returned to the dome, and attacked Baytail Accord before teleporting away.
- Dunnensend lore says Excellence protected the vultures after Garadule failed, while Goliaths once asked Excellence for help trapping his brother.
- Day 36 says Garadule ate Pride, leaving The Guilt unconscious and triggering Pride’s attempted disabling of systems before consumption.
- Grand Towers orb lore says Garadule was locked downstairs, heard a chair-guy through his greater gravel children, and walked into Browning’s trap.
- Geldrin offered Garadule to the pale skull-throne woman in exchange for dispelling dragon magic from Soot.
- At Coalmount Falls, an automaton introduced himself as Garadule before activating recall protocol.
- Day 42 Ashkelon lore preserved Benu / Garadule / goat-headed sphinx imagery, a hidden feather relic, and a book identifying Benu, Garadule, and Trixus as the last three of Attabre’s children walking on earth.
- Trixus, Benu, and Garadule are Bynx’s brothers.
- The same book says Garadule looked after the Dunnen People and enjoyed gifts, while Igraine gave the protectors gifts to heal their people; this now connects to the Dunnen Mother healing-power and Flesh-Crafting Wands thread.
- On Day 43, Garadule spoke through the feather, claimed the Barrier was his, said Mother had been a useful ally, called someone the betrayer or daughter, said only one more remained, “the Auroch or the Crab,” referring to Leedus and Papa Marmaru, and asked where his brother was.
- Garadule appeared in Ashkelon for the sphinx-family reunion, refused to lay down weapons, killed Eliana, fought Benu, and was banished at 5:00.
- On Day 45, Morgana’s attempt to reincarnate the incomplete spirit associated with the Hephaestoos/vulture-man body instead formed an elven male body with greenish hair and divine energy, who identified himself as Garadule.
- Earlier in the Day 45 old mage school sequence, a corridor floor/rug image included an orange Dunnensend ray showing Garadule from one angle with the word
Terror. - Morgana’s Day 45 reincarnation vision included a message saying
not Terror, which refers to Garadule as Terror of the Sands, and a book labelledGrand temple city, now understood as the Grand Temple City of Garadule. - This reincarnated Garadule initially did not recognise the party and last remembered the desert and his people before the Dome existed; the party temporarily called him Groot.
- Morgana suspected much of Garadule had been in the vulture body, and Emeraldus was wondered to be one of his children.
- Garadule sensed spirits protecting the basement and helped by removing Morgana’s Feeble Mind.
- After Invar restored Garadule from Feeble Mind, Garadule remembered everything, said he needed to find his brothers, and teleported away.
- Day 47 Lady Evalina Hartwall’s Laboratory images showed a silver-haired sphynx / Garadule portrait, Grand Towers memory scenes with a toy figure of Attabre that Bynx identified as his father, and diary entries saying Argentum wanted to help Garadule fight elementals.
- Later Day 47 diary notes debated the proper word for captives or prisoners and wanted an alternative term for Garadule, while preserving uncertainty about whether the original intentions remained good.
- On Day 56, Garadule was found behind a Barrier with Trixus, Benu, and Bynx in a Grand Towers control-room side area. He was clearer, said he would repay his misdeeds by helping the party, and asked that the dome be brought down now for different reasons.
- Garadule’s father trusted the party after they brought the children together, but said the choice was the party’s. Day 56 also tied Hartwall to the downfall and said Argentum died.
