Mother Egraine Brook
Summary
Mother Egraine Brook is a priestess of Igraine and the Dunnensend Mother whom the party met in the Dunnen court. She represents the Mothers’ healing tradition and is associated with the flesh-crafting wands, but there is no evidence that she possessed the memory-alteration or destructive Carnamancy attributed to The Mother, Betrayer. The two are distinct: The Mother, Betrayer was the earlier Dunnen Mother, Ennui’s apprentice, and an antagonist who betrayed her people and worked with Garadule.
Known Details
- The Dunnensend court included Father Hairless, the Hearth Master, the Huntsmistress, and Huntsman Indanyu, alongside Mother Egraine Brook.
- As Igraine’s priestess, Mother Egraine Brook represents the goddess’s life, pleasure, fertility, harvest, and healing tradition in Dunnensend.
- Day 27 Dunnensend context establishes that The Mother, Betrayer was also a Dunnen Mother, one who betrayed her people.
- The Dunnensend Mother had healing powers but did not have memory-alteration powers; the memory and Carnamancy antagonist is The Mother, Betrayer.
- The Mothers’ healing powers should be linked directly to the Flesh-Crafting Wands, especially the wand totem from a sister in Dunnensend, the Grand Towers flesh-crafting wand, and The Mother, Betrayer’s corrupted Carnamancy.
