Belburn and Lostvein Envy Lead

Summary

The Belburn and Lostvein lead sent the party from Brass City, through the freedom-oriented Bridged town of Belburn, toward Envy’s jade mines. Pan-based travel and a Grand Towers penny opened the route, while refugees and Belburners confirmed Envy’s extortion network and the lamias’ theft of children for mine labour. In Lostvein, the party found a crater mine town whose kobold workforce and ore shipments supported Envy’s army, encountered Noxia wasps and a Noxia Countess, rescued two elven husks, and escaped the uprising toward the dwarven mountain forge road.

Known Details

  • The party sought a route to Belburn while prioritizing Envy, then Wrath/Ruby Eye, then Mama Hartwall.
  • Belburners in Brass City’s Earthwise quarter said Envy was at the jade mines in Lostvein.
  • Lamias at Lostvein extorted goods and materials and stole children at night to work in the mines.
  • The party traded pans, learned routes, and eventually succeeded with pan-based travel by tossing a Grand Towers penny into the pan.
  • On day-59, Belburn proved to be a rocky, freedom-oriented Bridged town still paying Envy’s “tithes” or “gifts.” The party hired Slinky, Mr. Green, Lizzy, and a wagon from a Goliath lizard-dealer.
  • A kobold refugee mother with nine children fled Lostvein after a tax collector took all her jade, confirming Envy’s heavy extraction and the importance of jade, copper, gold, and amethyst.
  • On day-60, Lostvein was revealed as a crater mine town with kobold labourers, snake/scorpion/human-looking guards, Noxia wasps, and ore shipments to a dwarven mountain forge for Envy’s army.
  • The party killed a Noxia Countess in the Lostvein hive, rescued two elven husks, and escaped during a kobold uprising with Colonel Bilgewater Windle the 7th driving a stolen convoy toward the mountain city.

Timeline

  • day-58: The party gathers the Belburn / Lostvein lead, teaches Belburners a crude lamia-checking method, and travels to Belburn.
  • day-59: The party explores Belburn, hires lizards, buys Bridged temple ink, helps a kobold refugee family, and sees an eight-wheeled armoured wagon travelling toward Belburn.
  • day-60: The party infiltrates Lostvein, discovers Noxia blood, kills the Countess/Countessor Noxia, and flees toward Envy’s mountain forge route.
