Summary

Brass City is a formerly enslaved elemental city whose current rulers are described as The People. Its revolution ended the old masters’ rule, but the citadel and minarets still preserve their planar control systems, cursed Council statues, and shield-crystal body work. The party’s visits exposed the city’s layered history: a relaxed post-rebellion community above older elemental, religious, educational, prison, and cross-planar systems that remain only partly understood.

Description

After the revolution, Brass City’s interior was lush, relaxed, and lived-in rather than visibly enslaved. Tabaxi lounged, sewed, and danced while lizard, salamander, and snake folk repaired and cleaned the city. The old citadel and minarets preserved stranger, older spaces: Council statues, realm doors, water-painting rooms, Noxia-side display rooms, a wrong-feeling fire realm, old Brass City’s market tapestry, Attabre’s halls, Stolchar’s forge tower, Squwal’s cold echoing tower, and the Minaret of Learning with classrooms, rugs, libraries, and a secret blue-dragon library. The blue dragon teacher released from the library appeared first as a woman in blue Arabic or harem-style clothes before transforming into a huge serpentine blue dragon.

Day 57 Details

  • Infestus’s wife sent the party by blue dragon to just outside Brass City.
  • Two diplomats greeted them, including a smoke-scaled figure with a cobra head under his hood.
  • The city interior was lush, relaxed, and not visibly enslaved; the Glowscale were excited to see the party.
  • After the revolution, Brass City remained relaxed in a lived-in way: tabaxi lounged, sewed, and danced while lizard, salamander, and snake folk repaired and cleaned the city.
  • The old masters had enslaved labour for repair, upkeep, and citadel work.
  • A rebellion began when slaves wanted bread and were denied it; protestors burst into flames.
  • The Excellence of Air left and never returned; tower creatures became unruly after that.
  • The citadel contains air elementals, a control room that can touch multiple planes, realm doors, and Council statues that can be restored by returning missing objects or body pieces.
  • The Day 57 citadel/control-room sequence contains many rooms, doors, and echo spaces rather than separate present-day settlements: Earth-plane rooms, water painting rooms, Noxia-side offering-bowl rooms, the Realm of Fire doorway, the marketplace tapestry into old Brass City, Attabre’s halls, and the dark/death-realm prison route.
  • The water-painting rooms included a whirlpool throne-room replica, a tropical fish painting with a clam and distant shipwreck, an icy swamp lake like Morgana’s home with dead bees and a boarded hut, and a calm lake opening into real landscape.
  • The Noxia-side rooms were display-like and unsettling: carved salt and porcelain dragon eggs, a quartz dragon skull, stored paintings of known people dead, duplicate Errol, stone bowls under glass, sacrificial tools, and domestic rooms with jellyfish children.
  • The fire painting opened into a wrong-feeling fire realm of black cracked lava stone, smashed doors, missing throne, no paintings, and red-skinned horned guards serving Sultan Azar Nuri.
  • Old Brass City, reached through the marketplace tapestry, appeared thriving in 2842 AP with tabaxi, blue dragonborn, blue dragons, traders, palace access, and tapestry work shaped by visions.
  • Attabre’s halls felt civilised and ceremonial, with etiquette rooms, rest, drinks, birthday meals and campaign-memory meals, and a lion-like tabaxi host in a knowledge-and-civilization setting.
  • The dark realm route led through path, throne, alternate prison tower, blue-purple wisps, wasp jailers, cold black wailing discs, and finally a seawater chamber where the merfolk unborn gathered.
  • Facets that Gleam in the Sun, a tabaxi jeweller, had been taken to the citadel to cut a gem and revealed that the supposed great weapon was a shield-crystal body or focusing crystal.
  • Four great minarets hold or relate to a shield-crystal focusing body, possibly Tremon’s body.
  • Day 56 locating magic placed Cardinal inside a Brass dome on a bench, surrounded by air elementals, in one of the towers in Brass City.
  • A past version of Brass City showed blue dragonborn and dragons, a market, palace access by invitation, and a dragon/serpent tapestry-maker working from visions after Igraine visited.
  • A Gaol was named as another possible place to seek Valenth.
  • The party later rested in an empty Brass City house after the merbaby rescue, where Dirk felt someone scrying on him.
  • After the party restored the tail, stone casing broke away from at least one statue and revealed live tabaxi. The restored king asked how long they had been stone.
  • A priestess was expected to guide the party to Cardonal the next day at 12:30.
  • Day 58 added more fixed city structures: the Minaret of Learning with tabaxi classrooms, sphinx drawings, blue dragon toys, university rooms, libraries, old knowledge rugs, a secret blue-dragon library, bureaucratic and rulership floors, and museum-like civilization exhibits.
  • Stolchar’s tower contained iron-banded doors, mosaics of five chromatic and five metallic dragons, and forges for precious metals, military or war metalwork, and mundane construction.
  • Squwal’s tower, which people avoided, had cold plain stone, echoes, chalk storm and vulture drawings, carefully placed everyday objects, strange vision-rooms, a bottomless koi pond, an abandoned Freeport warehouse scene, and a glass-domed top room with compass rose and weather decoration.

Open Questions

  • Which old-regime systems still control Brass City or the planes?
  • Who are all members of the Council, and what happens politically after restoration?
  • What caused the bread rebellion protestors to burst into flames?
  • What are the full functions of the four great minarets?
  • Which Day 57 citadel rooms were physical spaces, planar rooms, vision echoes, or time-layered records?
