Valenth Cardonal

Summary

Valenth Cardonal, also called Cardonal or Valenth, is Brutor Ruby Eye’s best friend, an old friend of the Freeport Baroness, and one of the five creators of the Dome / Barrier. She is a researcher in sentient jewellery, soul transfer, automations, and prison repair whose work is tied to the desert laboratory and the Barrier network. The Freeport Baroness is one of Cardonal’s sentient jewellery creations, while Platinum is her familiar. Cardonal transferred herself into the Silver-controlled automaton body and has remained in that same body; the transfer and Cardonal’s continued operation are established, while the wider history of her soul-work remains under investigation.

Description

On Day 58, Valenth Cardonal was found motionless on a bench, in an ornate high-grade constructed body that functioned as a vessel for a soul rather than an ordinary automaton. Her chest runes faded after she woke; she had shut herself down to avoid the smoke creature’s control.

Known Details

  • The Baroness knew Velenth/Valenth Cardonal and was shaken by revelations about her.
  • User clarification identifies the Day 17 desert researcher previously read as Keely Caardenalb as Cardonal.
  • The Dome / Barrier was created by Everard Browning, Ennui, Brutor Ruby Eye, Valenth Cardonal, and Lady Evalina Hartwall.
  • Valenth wanted to transfer herself into an object.
  • Valenth Cardonal is the same person described as Ruby Eye’s best friend who wanted to craft herself into something and continue in that form.
  • At the desert laboratory, Cardonal communicated through a copper astrolabe with a red gem after 907 years and later took over Silver’s construct body when Silver was thrown into the Barrier.
  • Cardonal wrote Instructions for creating sentient jewellery in Celestial; sentient items needed a soul.
  • User clarification identifies the Freeport Baroness as a sentient necklace created by Cardonal, with the wearer acting as the public face while the necklace controls.
  • She could provide teleport-circle codes for prisons, labs, and Grand Towers levels, and could be contacted with fixed Ennui.
  • Later she repaired prison systems, helped calculate the Tri-moon shard trajectory, fixed Salt/Seaward issues, resisted mental intrusion, resurrected Ruby Eye, and repaired Errol.
  • Valentinhide is also recorded as a prisoner or prison, with Galetea/Galatrayer as an automation guard; she is distinct from Cardonal.
  • Day 33 auction art included Valentinhide's Betrayal, showing a crab claw and talon shielding Throngore over a featherless female; Day 34 skull visions also showed Vallententide grabbed by a crab claw and disappearing, and later notes say Valentinhide had been attacked by Throngore with darkness.
  • Cardonal did not answer Eroll on Day 34, which was strange because Eroll contacts her directly.
  • Day 42-44 evidence concerns Valentinhide, a separate high-sky or betrayed figure, not Cardonal. Earlier transcription collisions are not treated as an identity merge.
  • Day 43 Cardonal coordinated Ashkelon, searched unsuccessfully for Ruby Eye and Errol, and gave Geldrin teleportation circles for prisons, Grand Towers, labs, Menagerie, Ashkhellon, and pylon sites.
  • Day 44 old-school scenes identify Valenth Cardonal as Matron / Nurse Cardonal’s daughter and a student in Geldrin’s year, while Valenth also appears in Ruby Eye’s old student group.
  • Day 46 identifies Platinum as Cardonal’s cat, warning that Errol was possessed by one of Squwal’s things.
  • Day 47 records Platinum saying a locked door had not been there when she was with the adventurers and that the memory wipe may have missed it.
  • Day 51 notes specifically that Cardonal was not seen at Ruby Eye’s prison cell.
  • Day 58 has Cardonal call Platinum the one creation that hasn't betrayed me, and user clarification identifies Platinum as Cardonal’s familiar.
